Mid Life Crisis Edition

St Lukes Hospice, Cheshire

St Lukes Hospice is a fantastic place where people with terminal illness or a long term condition can find sojurn, pain relief, pastoral care and their dignity during the final days, weeks or months of their lives. "Like a lighthouse in a rough sea, St Luke's is a place where people can find a safe refuge during a difficult journey." sums it up really. It has especial meaning for me as it where my Mum volunteered and then subsequently spent her last days when she fell ill with Cancer.

Unicef

For 60 years UNICEF has been the world's leader for children, working on the ground in 156 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence.  UNICEF helps children receive the support, health care and education they need to cope with the threats of childhood poverty - such as preventable disease or malnutrition - and grow up to become healthy adults.

'By taking part in or supporting Enduro India you will be responsible for changing the fate of generations of children and helping to prevent the HIV/AIDS epidemic spreading even further.'

Rainbow Trust

EnduroIndia funds a post for a Family Support Worker in Rainbow Trust’s Swindon Team who provides hands on, practical and emotional support for families with a terminally ill child. Performing a role most of us couldn’t contemplate, they keep the households of the families they support running, by helping with hospital trips, performing household duties, taking the siblings to school, and looking after them when parents remain in hospital with their sick child. In many cases they provide care during the final stages of a child’s life. Over the last year Rainbow has given assistance to over 40 families of which five are bereaved. Thirty-five families are currently having support; of these generally fifteen to twenty families are receiving regular visits.

Wildlife Conservation Society

The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild lands. We do so through careful science, international conservation, education, and the management of the world’s largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo.

Together, these activities change individual attitudes toward nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in sustainable interaction on both a local and a global scale. WCS is committed to this work because we believe it essential to the integrity of life on Earth.
